| NASA on a crusade to debunk 2012 apocalypse myths |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|08:23 pm] |

The world is not coming to an end on December 21, 2012, the US space agency insisted Monday in a rare campaign to dispel widespread rumors fuelled by the Internet and a new Hollywood movie.
Sony Pictures's latest big screen offering "2012" arrives in theaters on Friday, with a 200-million-dollar production about the end of the world supposedly based on myths backed by the Mayan calendar.
The doomsday scenario revolves claims that the end of time will come as an obscure Planet X -- or Nibiru -- heads toward or collides into Earth.
The mysterious planet was supposedly discovered by the Sumerians, according to claims by pseudo-scientists, paranormal activity enthusiasts and Internet theorists.

Did pop diva Beyonce Knowles and Destiny's Child rip off a Chicago songwriter's song?
A copycat claim contained in a 2006 lawsuit is expected to land the "Bootylicious" sensation in a witness chair next month as part of a copyright infringement trial to be held in Chicago's federal courthouse.
In dispute is a song titled "Cater 2 U" released by Destiny's Child in a 2004 compilation called "Destiny Fulfilled." The video features sultry scenes of the musical trio proclaiming: "Whatever you desire, I'll aspire."
But Chicago songwriter and performer Rickey Allen says it's his song, and a judge has given the green light for a jury to hear his claims against Mrs. Jay-Z.

| Matt Damon, State Dept. Create Global Warming Propaganda PSA |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|07:04 pm] |
Recently, actor Matt Damon narrated a video for the State Department, addressing the problem of chronic worldwide hunger. The video is extremely well made; those who watch it can’t help but be touched by it.
This first minute of the three-minute video revolves around one problem: Hunger. Poor children are seen dying of starvation, others are lying on the streets of third-world countries, not able to walk. Damon explains that six million children die of hunger every year – needless to say, a shocking statistic.
Even the most egotistical viewer cannot help but get angry at and upset by so much suffering, most of which is needless.
But then, one minute into the video, the subject suddenly changes. We move from dying children to tornadoes and tsunamis. Damon forgets about the children for a while to focus on … you knew it was coming … global warming.

| Inside Michael Jackson's final resting place: Courtesy of his "true Friend" Karen Faye |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|09:44 pm] |
Here is the first photo of Michael Jackson's final resting place -- a regal tomb adorned with flowers, framed photos, letters and other souvenirs.
The tributes were left in the crypt at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Glendale, Calif., by longtime Jacko pal and makeup artist Karen Faye, sources told The Post.
Jackson's family picked Forest Lawn's Great Mausoleum section for its high security.
At the mausoleum's entrance, visitors are greeted by a huge stained-glass reproduction of da Vinci's "The Last Supper."
SHRINE: Michael Jackson's tomb is adorned with tributes delivered by a longtime friend of the pop star. But to get any farther inside, they have to be on a preapproved list.
Faye, who made up Jackson, 50, for his journey into eternity, has been collecting Jacko trinkets for weeks.
She's on the list of approved visitors, and she has been personally taking the tributes to the crypt herself every other week since Jackson's funeral on Sept. 3, sources said.
"She feels like she's the friend of the fans, that she's the only thing that can connect the fans to Michael now," said a source close to Faye.
"This is very important to her because she knows the fans loved Michael so much. She does this for them, especially those who traveled to be near Michael."

| Gossip Girl Threesome Discussion and Promo For 3.10 |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|10:08 pm] |
Ok, so what happened was Dan and Vanessa were having Olivia complete a list of '15 Things Kids Should Do In College'. It was Olivia's last day because she has to leave to go film a movie. They were all doing shots at a party and ended up back at Dan's loft in Brooklyn. The last thing on the list that she hasn't completed was "Do a Threesome". They all went around and said if they have ever had one or not. Dan and Vanessa said no and Olivia said yes but that it was for a movie and it didn't actually happen happen. Olivia chugged the rest of her drink and everyone looked at eachother. Olivia started hooking up with Dan as Vanessa watched, then Olivia and Vanessa started hooking up. Then Dan and Vanessa (ew) started to hook up. The next scene they were all in was the three of them asleep in bed (dan in the middle) and Olivia's phone had a text saying that the movie was cancelled, meaning she doesn't have to leave school (aka an extra awkward morning).
I know everyone is going to bitch that it wasn't as big as it was set up to be and even though 99% of the people already expected this, they're going to bitch anyways. However the next episode not only looks really good (btw tonight's episode was really good) but they are going to show flashbacks of the threesome, so along with more scenes (hopefully raunchy) they'll also add 3~.
Now commence the lack of 'hot people in a threesome, the lack of a gay threesome, how gossip girl has no balls, and how gossip girl sucks because they didn't play 3'
Imo I thought the beginning was so awkward and sexy at the same time, I had the weirdest feeling in my stomach. But I liked it and can't wait to see more!! And you all need to remember this is a network show this isn't fucking skinamax or hbo!!!
In fact, after I keep watching it and watching it, the scene with the background music is actually beautiful. And I feel for some reason that this like actually happened irl. It's weird and hard to explain!
don't forget yall gaga is on next episode too!!

| Sean Faris to be on Vampire Diaries |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|10:11 pm] |
Thirsty for some Vampire Diaries scoop? Former Reunion eye candy Sean Faris is sinking his teeth into a juicy multi-episode arc on the fangtastic CW hit, sources confirm to me exclusively. Faris will play Ben, an ex-high school football star-turned-bartender at the Mystic Grill. “He’s Matt’s buddy,” says a Vampire insider. “He gets entangled in the group when a broke Matt takes a job at the Mystic Grill.” The Vamp source also hints at a possible romance between Ben and one of the show’s females. But which one? Let the speculation begin in the comments!
SOURCE Who bets he'll probably be killed off by the end of that "muti-episodic arc"? |

| Top 10 Cult Movies of the Decade |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|09:16 pm] |
Exactly what qualifies as a cult classic is a point of contention to many. Urban Dictionary describes it in a variety of ways. Including the concise, “A movie that is weird as f*ck.” Oddly, that source of love and mistakes Wikipedia may have the finest definition, claiming a cult movie to be “a film that has acquired a highly devoted but specific group of fans.” Adding pointedly, “(They) have limited but very special, noted appeal.” A movie can gain success and be a cult movie, it just has to be a certain kind of picture, one that breeds ravenous individuals to view them again and again, forming instant friendships with strangers who share that passion. Basically, a cult movie is like an obscenity, you know it when you see it. In continuation of the retrospective of the decade that was in cinema, these are the Top 10 Cult Movies of the Decade, not to be confused with the most popular.

| Carey Mulligan's in a class of her own |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|09:16 pm] |
Just under a year ago, Carey Mulligan was sleeping quite soundly at night. Then she found out An Education was going to play at the Sundance Film Festival. The weight of shouldering her first lead suddenly hit her. "I started freaking out that if everybody hated it, it would be all my fault," she explains. "I had these anxiety dreams – very basic anxiety dreams – where Geoff Gilmore, the [former] director of Sundance put me in a car and made me leave for being disappointing. In Park City, in the main high street, he gets this black car and he's like, 'Get in. You've got to go. Everyone thought it was going to be really good!'"
Fortunately, everybody did think it was good. Better than good, as it goes. Winner of the Audience Award, An Education has since become one of the most talked-about films this year. What's more, the London-born Mulligan has become the centre of attention for her breakthrough role as Jenny, a 16-year-old schoolgirl who falls under the spell of an older man (Peter Sarsgaard) in 1960s suburban England. Already nominated for a British Independent Film Award for Best Actress, an Oscar nod is now a very real possibilit y (Ladbroke's make her second favourite at 5-1 to win Best Actress, behind Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia). No wonder Time magazine recently proclaimed, "Carey Mulligan: a star is born".

| Eastwick canceled |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|06:20 pm] |
The Forgotten gets more episodes, Let’s Dance scrapped
Sorry Eastwick fans, but you should’ve seen it coming.
__________________________________________________________________ via James Hibberd’s the live feed: ABC has picked up five more episodes of Tuesday night’s “The Forgotten” while deciding against ordering additional episodes of “Eastwick.” In addition, ABC is yanking the planned upcoming debut of reality show “Let’s Dance.” __________________________________________________________________
With the exception of scrapping plans for the only just recently announced to begin with “Let’s Dance”, these moves aren’t a big surprise. Perhaps the move of picking up The Forgotten is surprising for some, but Jerry Bruckheimer’s show will live on for at least 5 additional episodes.

| Two and a Half Men Teen Millionaire |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|09:13 pm] |

Is it fair that one of Hollywood's most successful and richest young actors didn't set out to be a performer -- in fact, never took an acting class -- when there are thousands of others like him, sweating auditions, posing for head shots, tweeting their every move?
To underscore the point: Angus T. Jones, the "half" in the No. 1 comedy on TV, “Two and a Half Men,” doesn't even know if he wants to continue to hone the skill that's made him a millionaire when the 7-year-old CBS sitcom goes off the air. He's a 16-year-old high school sophomore who wants to go to college, and that's as far as his plans go.
"I don't know what I'm going to take or where I'm going to go," he said. "I'm not really sure. I don't really know if I want to do acting as a career. I really don't know what I want to do yet."
But what does he say to those legions of young actors who study, worry and undoubtedly envy him?
"I'm sorry?" Jones replied sweetly, his shoulders shrugging as his eyes melted into his signature broad grin. "It's always come naturally to me, but I don't know if I want to do this as a career."
( i can't believe he's a MILLIONAIRE ) |
